An Evening with Dame Ngaio Marsh

Ngaio Marsh: Her Life in Crime is a new biography of the New Zealander who became known as the ‘Queen of Crime’ but was also a renowned theatre director and, in her younger years, an artist. In 2007, Dr Joanne Drayton was awarded a National Library Fellowship to write a biography of Dame Ngaio Marsh. The author of Edith Collier Her Life and Work, 1885-1964 (1999), Rhona Haszard: An Expatriate New Zealand Artist (2002) and Frances Hodgkins: A Private Viewing (2005), Joanne also contributed a chapter to Between the Lives: Partners in Art (2005).

For this session and illustrated presentation of the book, theatre director Elric Hooper, who acted in several Ngaio Marsh productions, will join Joanne on stage to offer personal insights into a remarkable life.
